Mateo has coached every level from Learn-to-Play to ACHA college hockey. As a Level 4 USA Hockey Coach, he has nearly two decades of coaching experience, guiding and encouraging players at the A, AA, and AAA tiers. He currently coaches with the Carolina Premiere Hockey organization and helps with the Pineville Falcons 8U program. Before coaching, he played competitive travel hockey in programs across D.C. and California, Juniors in Baltimore, and ACHA college hockey at George Mason University. His coaching philosophy emphasizes not just the development of athletic skills but also the cultivation of essential life skills like discipline, teamwork, and resilience. Mateo views ice hockey as a powerful tool for preparing individuals for life’s challenges, both on and off the ice.
