Matthew Steeves

Matt Steeves brings a wealth of experience and a history of competitive success to his role as a development coach with our organization. As the owner and Head Coach of the Light the Lamp Shooting Program, Matt has dedicated himself to developing the next generation of hockey talent, utilizing his expertise at the shooting bay inside Pineville Ice House to refine the skills of aspiring players.

A former NCAA Division 1 hockey standout, Matt’s collegiate career at the University of Notre Dame is highlighted by remarkable achievements, including winning the Big Ten Conference Championship and securing a runner-up finish in the Frozen Four National Championship. These accomplishments are a testament to his skill, determination, and understanding of the game.

Matt’s hockey journey began in Bedford, New Hampshire, where he played youth hockey for the New Hampshire Monarchs, showcasing his potential early on. His drive and talent then led him to a year in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) before he completed his junior career with stints in the USHL with Sioux City and Muskegon, further honing his skills against some of the country’s best young talent.

Now calling Charlotte home, Matt is poised to impart his knowledge, experience, and passion for hockey to our players. His journey from a youth player in New Hampshire, through the competitive ranks of junior hockey, to the collegiate stage, and now as a coach, embodies the pathway we envision for our players.
