Mateo is a highly experienced hockey coach who has coached every level from Learn-to-Play to ACHA college hockey. He is a Level 4 USA Hockey Coach with almost two decades of experience, and has coached players at the A, AA, and AAA tiers. Currently, Mateo coaches with the Carolina Premiere Hockey organization and helps out with the Pineville Falcons 8U program. Mateo himself played competitive travel hockey in various programs across D.C. and California, Juniors in Maryland, and ACHA college hockey at George Mason University.
Mateo’s coaching philosophy is centered around developing not only athletic skills, but also important life skills such as discipline, teamwork, and resilience. In Mateo’s view, ice hockey is a powerful tool that can help individuals prepare for life’s challenges both on and off the ice.
